High winds could cause lake flooding

Chicago area residents are waking up this morning to lakeshore flood advisory and chilly temperatures.

The U.S. National Weather Service has issued the advisory, saying wind gusts of 35 mph could cause 11- to 14-foot waves. With higher water levels, that could cause problems in flood-prone levels.

Winds are expected to lessen later this afternoon.

Temperature-wise, it's clear fall has arrived. We're running about 10 degrees below normal, expecting to see highs to barely hit 60.

After a few days of below-normal temperatures in the Chicago area, showers are set to move in for the end of the weekend.

High temperatures near 60 degrees Fahrenheit, paired with a cool breeze from Lake Michigan, will not hide the fact that fall has begun. Normal temperatures for this time of year are around 68.

Hurricane Joaquin will move into the Ohio Valley, bringing rain later today and tonight.
