Expecting a baby? NCH has an app for that

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (September 30, 2015) -Expectant moms and dads on the go have a new source of reliable information about all things baby. To satisfy the information cravings that soon-to-be parents often have, Northwest Community Healthcare (NCH) recently launched the NCH Baby app.

The free app is designed to educate expectant parents about their baby's development, taking a month-by-month look at pregnancy. After their baby arrives, new moms and dads also can access the app for more than 100 videos that offer help with everything from newborn care to breast feeding.

"The NCH Baby app provides easy-to-access information for our expectant moms and dads from pregnancy through their baby's first birthday," says Don Houchins, executive director of NCH's Women's and Children's Services. "It is useful and fun and puts all the information expectant moms and dads need to know in one app."

The NCH Baby app features include:

• Pregnancy advice for all 40 weeks, a pregnancy journal and an appointment tracker

• A timeline to help decision making for prenatal tests, breastfeeding and choosing a pediatrician

• A kick counter and contractions timer

• Health recommendations, including vitamin and exercise guidelines

• Information on NCH education classes for each stage of pregnancy, including sibling introduction classes, and

• NCH fast facts on epidurals, alternative pain-control options like the use of birthing balls and showers, and where to go once in labor

The NCH Baby app is available for Apple devices in the iTunes app store, or for Android devices in the Google Play store.
