Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart Elects New Chair, Five New Board Members

Barbara Wood-Prince of Lake Forest has been elected Board of Trustees Chair for Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart, and five new Board members also have been appointed.

Wood-Prince has a long tenure with and love for the Sacred Heart network, which spans the United States and 40 other countries.

"My Sacred Heart education began at the tender age of four in Barat College's Old Main" she said. She continued there through ninth grade and then transferred to another Sacred Heart school in Noroton, CT. Wood-Prince explained, "All those years of Sacred Heart education definitely formed me into the person I am today. I love Woodlands, and I am happy to serve the school as the Board chair."

New trustees this school year include: the Hon. Susan Kennedy-Sullivan (Woodlands Academy alumna, 1970), Chicago; James D. Pattie, Lake Forest; Kristofer Swanson, Chicago; Sally Tomkins, Kenosha, WI; and Mary Clare White (Woodlands Academy alumna, 1964), Wilmette.

The 23-member Board is responsible for oversight of the independent Catholic college preparatory day and boarding high school for young women of all faiths. Woodlands Academy was named the sixth best private school in Illinois and the highest-ranking Catholic school in the state, 18th in the United States in the 2015 Niche rankings.

The school is located at 760 E. Westleigh, Lake Forest, and recently celebrated its expanded campus dedication which reunited the former Barat property.
