Central Illinois brothers get decades for armed robbery

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (AP) - Two central Illinois brothers in their teens have been sentenced to decades in prison for an armed robbery during which they shot and injured two men.

The (Bloomington) Pantagraph (http://bit.ly/1P8fuMr) reports that 19-year-old Derrick Wade was handed a 30-year prison term Thursday. His brother, 17-year-old Keshon Wade, received 21 years.

They were charged in a Nov. 8 armed robbery after going to a Bloomington apartment to help two other young men produce a video. The ended up shooting one man in the back and the other in the leg and neck. The Wade brothers had allegedly demanded money and a camera.

Prosecutor Adam Ghrist said it's never a happy day when young people go to prison. But he said this was "an example of problems with gun violence and youth."
