Public can now file Rosemont police reports online

The public can now file police reports for crimes in Rosemont online.

A new web-based reporting system has gone live on the public safety department's website, where reports on minor thefts, vehicle burglaries, lost property and quality of life issues, among other incidents, can be filed.

Those who file an online police report will have it reviewed by police personnel, and once the report is approved, an official copy will be sent back via email, officials say.

The web-based reporting option fits "with the evolving public expectancy of comprehensive services available to them via the Internet," officials said in a news release.
