St. Charles library concerts to feature favorite songs

The St. Charles Public Library's Sunday Concert Series will host award-winning vocalist Maureen Christine and jazz saxophonist Michael Bazan Sunday, Oct. 4.

They will be accompanied by Don Stille on piano and accordion. The concert will take place at 2 p.m. in the Carnegie auditorium, 1 S. Sixth Ave.

The program "Great American Composers" will feature some of the greatest songwriters in history and their famous songs including Rodgers & Hammerstein, Irving Berlin, Dave Brubeck, and contemporary songwriters such as John Denver and James Taylor.

Vocalist Maureen Christine is a national recording artist and concert vocalist. Bazan, director of bands at Wredling School in St. Charles and adjunct saxophone professor at Wheaton College Conservatory of Music, is also a professional woodwind player. He will perform on saxophone, flute and clarinet.

Concert is free, sponsored in part by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council Agency, and is open to the public. Registration is suggested.
