'Animal Crackers' writing workshop geared to fans of animals

Anderson Animal Shelter, 1000 S. LaFox St. in South Elgin, will be hosting a creative writing workshop on Saturday, Oct. 10.

The "Animal Crackers Writing Workshop" is geared toward both aspiring writers and fans of animals. The writing workshop will include sessions for both children and adults. Kids ages 6-12 will meet from noon to 1:30 p.m. and ages 13 to adult from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Cost is $10. All proceeds benefit the Anderson Animal Shelter.

The workshop, led by creative writing expert Lisa Diven, will include various techniques and prompts to tap into each writer's creativity.

"We are thrilled to be able to host this writing workshop at the shelter," said Carrie Frost, community outreach coordinator. "The shelter strives to provide innovative and unique programming to the community, and a writing workshop is just perfect for the animal lovers who want to hone their creative writing skills."
