Metro Suburban Week 6: IC Catholic offense meets Riverside-Brookfield defense
IC Catholic (4-1, 1-0) at Riverside-Brookfield (5-0, 1-0)
Game time: 7:15 p.m. Friday.
The Metro Suburban West's top offense (IC's 221 points) versus its top defense (R-B's 72 against). IC's Jordan Rowell averages 157 yards rushing. R-B quarterback Ryan Swift plays linebacker, too, a two-way target for IC lineman Jim Kenneally.
Glenbard South (3-2, 1-0) at Wheaton Academy (4-1, 0-1)
Game time: 1 p.m. Saturday.
It'll be more of the same for Glenbard South - pound back Sean Cooke behind a line centered by Jordan Drake. Wheaton Academy defensive linemen Aidan Naylor, Mitch Brunner and Michael Callentine are charged with meeting that challenge.
Fenton (2-3, 0-1) at Aurora Central Catholic (2-3, 0-1)
Game time: 7:15 p.m. Friday.
Fenton lost senior quarterback Corey Hausen for the year with a broken wrist; the job now goes to junior Eddie Saucedo. Can't cry over spilled milk, coach Mark Kos said, and big Angelo Duvall and Danny Lucas aim to create lanes for back Eric Lonergan.
Walther Christian (1-4, 1-0) at St. Edward (3-2, 1-0)
Game time: 7:30 p.m. Friday at NIU Huskie Stadium
It's a special homecoming experience for St. Edward, which remains nomadic in the wake of last month's landscaping accident that killed the grass on Greg True Field in Elgin. "Our kids are very excited," St. Edward athletic director P.J. White said of the opportunity to play in a Division-I college stadium.
