Hersey protects MSL East lead

Hersey's girls volleyball team maintained its 1-match lead over Prospect in the Mid-Suburban East with a 25-18, 25-20 homecourt win over Rolling Meadows on Thursday night at the Ken Carter Gymnasium in Arlington Heights.

Coach Nancy Lill's team improved to 15-5 and 6-0 in the MSL East, where it has won 23 straight matches.

Emma Strozewski (17 assists) and Maggie Reisel (6 aaist) ste the attack which was led by Liz Fuerst ( 9 kills), Katie Rozanski (6), Amy Morgan (4) and Zoe Strozewski (4).

Emma Frankiewicz had 13 digs and Zoe Strozewski collected 5 blocks.

Rolling Meadows (15-8-1, 3-3) was led by Maddie Sellergren (5 kills) while Gabrielle Paige, Hannah Mickey and Jenny Srnak each had 2 apiece.

Madeline Rebsamen was 10-of-10 serving while Connor was 9-of-9 with an ace.

Megan Mich (7 assists) and Megan King (4) set the attack.

Mickey had a team-high 6 blocks.

Palatine d. Fremd: Host Palatine (16-7, 6-0) retained its 1-match lead over Schaumburg in the MSL West with a 25-16, 25-17 decision over Fremd.

Ysabel Lee put down 7 kills and Bailey Hooker added 2 for the Vikings (13-7, 2-4), who received 16 assists from Natalie Freund.

Prospect d. Buffalo Grove: Visiting Prospect (15-5, 5-1) remained a match behind Hersey in the MSL East with a 25-17, 25-19 triumph as Mary Mazurek (5 kills), Kaela Myers (4), Maggie Porwit (3) and Brenda Kendziera (2) led the attack.

Michelle Hanning had 13 assists and 4 aces for the Knights whike Nikki Giammarino collected 10 digs against the Bison (1-5).

Barrington d. Hoffman Estates: Ana Zawisza (16 assists), Megan Talbot (5 kills) and Peyton Tilly (5 kills) were leaders for host Barrington (7-13, 4-2) in the MSL West match. Jennfier Nailor had 5 kills for Hoffman (0-6 in West) while teammate Hanna Saurbier added 4. Francesca Van led the Hawks' back row with 9 digs.

Wheeling d. Elk Grove: Timber Terrell put down 13 kills and Melissa Claver added 3 for visiting Wheeling (4-14, 3-3) in a 25-15, 25-23 MSL East triumph.

Rhochelle Laude added 2 kills for the Wildcats, whose offense was set by Jessica Janowski (15 assists).

Hala Fakhoury led Wheeling's back row with 11 digs.

Elk Grove (2-19, 0-6) was led on attack by freshman middle hitter Rachel Kandefer (6 kills) and junior setter Alex Masnica (3 kills, 7 assists).

Maine East d. Maine West: Host Maine East posted a 26-24, 25-12 victory over the Warriors (7-13, 3-2) in the Central Suburban North match.
