'Walk for Humanity' Saturday in Zion

The third annual "Walk for Humanity" walkathon is set for Saturday, Oct. 3, at 1 p.m. in Shiloh Park, 2400 Dowie Memorial Drive, Zion. The event is hosted by Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association, the youth organization of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA, and will include youth from across Illinois and Wisconsin. This walkathon is part of a series of walks across the country as part of AMYA's ongoing "Muslim Youth Against Hunger" campaign to fight hunger and has previously set a Guinness World Record for the most number of food bags assembled for the hungry. This campaign is partnering with Why Hunger, Humanity First USA, and Capital Area Food Bank to raise funds and awareness to fight hunger in America with its annual charity fundraising walk. AMYA's initiative has raised nearly $200,000 in its first two years to help various charities across the United States, organizers said.
