U-46 offers first 'One-Stop-Shop' Curriculum Fair

ELGIN - Elgin Area School District U-46 will host its inaugural Curriculum Fair from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 3, at Elgin Community College Building E, 1700 Spartan Drive.

This "one-stop-shop" event aims to give students, parents and community members an opportunity to ask questions and learn about the various U-46 curricular offerings, including all courses, special programs and high school academies.

"We're excited to offer a new way for families to learn about the many options available for seventh through 12th graders across our district," said Tony Sanders, U-46 Chief Executive Officer. "This is just another way we hope to increase visibility and access to courses and programs that help our students prepare for success in college and careers."

Middle and high school teachers and students will be on hand during the event to offer their insight and information about individual courses and programs. Guidance counselors will also be available to discuss graduation requirements and answer additional questions.

While information at the Curriculum Fair, all U-46 families are invited to attend so they can become more aware of the district's various program offerings and entrance criteria.

"Parents of preschoolers on up are encouraged and welcome to attend," said Trisha Shrode, U-46 Director of Curriculum and Instruction. "Families are welcome to stop by and start planning for their child's future in high school and beyond."
