Harvest Fest coming to Streamwood Saturday

The Streamwood Park District has rebranded its long-lasting Pumpkinfest as Harvest Fest. It will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at Hoosier Grove Park, 700 W. Irving Park Road, Streamwood.

Harvest Fest will have all of the fun of Pumpkinfest, but with a fresh, new twist, according to district officials. There will be a variety of youth and family activities ranging from pony and wagon rides to treasure in the haystack and pumpkin decorating.

The Pumpkinfest Kiddie Run now is the annual Harvest Fest Kiddie Run. Children are invited to compete in a short race that will wind through the Hoosier Grove Park. The Kiddie Run is for children ages 3 to 11 and there are age groupings for 3-4, 5-6, 7-8 and 9-11.

Medallions will be given to the first-through third-place finishers (boys and girls groups). Every child will receive a participation ribbon and T-shirt.

Check-in begins at 9:15 a.m., with the winners to be announced at noon. The entry fee on race day is $15 for residents and $22 for nonresidents.

In the kids area, the festival will have a bounce house, treasure search in a haystack, duck game, pumpkin decorating, tractor wagon rides and pony rides from noon to 4 p.m.

Additional attractions include a beer garden and concessions, magician Kevin Kelly, the Streamwood Historical Society Spelling Bee and Cake Walk, a performance by the Streamwood Park District Starlights Dance Company, demonstrations by the wood carvers guild and application of Halloween tattoos.

The main stage entertainment will be the Radio Misfits, who will perform from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.
