Tuesday Morning Quarterback
Daily Herald Reports
Name: Jon Czernek
School: Glenbard North
Year: Senior
Best thing about being an offensive lineman: Honestly, you feel like family because everybody's giving you calls, everybody's got your back, you can really depend on the guy next to you. And post-snap, I feel like you can school somebody, take it to them. I know what the play is, I can see what's coming.
Worst thing about being an offensive lineman: Having to tone yourself down a little bit. You've got to remember the play and you've got to read the defensive lineman.
Don't tell my coach that: I forgot the count.
If I could change one thing about football: Not being able to cut the (line)backers. They send us out there chasing them. They basically send us on goose chases.
Team not on our schedule I wish we could play: I'd definitely like a rematch with Batavia.
How I'll celebrate if I score a TD: I'd probably run straight to my coach, honestly, give him a big hug.
Twitter, Facebook or Instagram: I'm a Twitter guy. For social media I've really gotten into it.
What I like best about my school: I like that we have so many successful sports. Our wrestling program, football program, we're known for being athletic and that reputation, that feeds going into a game.
Something about me that would surprise you: Nothing, really, I'm pretty normal. I don't know ... Only offensive lineman with a girlfriend?
Other sports I play: I do wrestling and I'm a thrower in track.
Favorite actor: It'd have to be Will Ferrell. He's the king of comedy, I believe.
Favorite actress: It's a hard one. I don't say I have one.
Favorite athlete: Manny Pacquiao. I'm a boxing guy.
Favorite musician: I'd say Eminem. Just his music, his style. He's got a lot of pump-up songs. And his story, rags to riches.
The stat:
Returning a fumble recovery 16 yards for a touchdown in Glenbard North's 46-6 victory over Naperville North, Panthers senior Devion Hodges now has scored running the ball, receiving it, on an interception return and on a fumble recovery.
The quote:
"We've gotten over that hump of being that 'other' Valley school. We're no longer known as the younger brother or anything like that."
- Metea Valley quarterback Conner Lovely after the Mustangs beat Waubonsie 19-7, winning for the first time in 13 games against Waubonsie Valley and Neuqua Valley.
