Slavin, Ward help Senators beat Hurricanes 2-1

Jaccob Slavin broke a tie with 5:10 left, and Cam Ward made 19 saves to help the Carolina Hurricanes beat the Ottawa Senators 2-1 in an exhibition game Sunday in St. John's, Newfoundland.

Brock McGinn opened the scoring the scoring for Carolina in the first period.

Shane Prince tied it in the second. Andrew Hammond made 24 saves for the Senators.
