District 128 board to meet in wake of former Bears player's protest

The Libertyville-Vernon Hills Area High School District 128 board will meet tonight for the first time since former Chicago Bears tight end Desmond Clark led a protest march to Vernon Hills High. The meeting is set for 7 p.m. at Vernon Hills High, 145 N. Lakeview Parkway.

Clark, who is black, said Wednesday's march was prompted by racial issues at the school. His son is a Vernon Hills High student.

Clark and his wife, Maria, were arrested earlier this month in connection with a confrontation with a school employee and a racially-charged outburst. The Clarks were charged with disorderly conduct. Maria Clark also was charged with assault. They are scheduled to appear in court Oct. 2.
