Boys soccer: St. Charles East downs Wheaton Academy

St. Charles East 3, Wheaton Academy 0: The 17th-ranked team in the Daily Herald Top 20 blanked the No. 3 Warriors (9-3-1) for their third-straight loss in nonconference action. The Saints (6-4-1) were led by goal scorers Michael Peters, Mitch Dorsey and Chris Edgerton. Steven Owens recorded a shutout in goal for East's second-straight win.

Larkin 1, West Chicago 0: Diego Ramirez scored on a feed from Sammy Rodriguez for an Upstate Eight crossover win. Royals (6-4-3) net protector Eleno Montes grabbed 2 saves.

At Hampshire: Hampshire's boys soccer team advanced to its own tournament championship game next Saturday at 2 p.m. against South Elgin with a 6-0 win over Rockford Auburn and a 7-0 win over East Peoria Saturday.

South Elgin (3-4) recorded an 8-3 win over Woodstock North as Isaac Perez and Derek Baker each scored 2 goals and recorded 1 assist. Jimmy Kelleher added 2 goals as well while Ignacio Acevedo had 1 goal and 1 assist and Christopher Stancyk scored. Rick Valdivia had 1 assist and Brian Dykstra made 4 saves in net. In the Storm's 7-0 win over Harvest Christian, Derek Baker recorded a hat trick while Valdivia scored twice and added 1 assist. Javier Lujan and Carlos Carrera each added goals and Steven Laboy dished 3 assists. The Lions also lost 7-1 to Woodstock North.

Jacobs 1, Prairie Ridge 0: The Golden Eagles (12-3) bounced back from a loss to CL South with a Colin Walsh penalty kick to grab a Fox Valley Conference crossover win over the Wolves. Ethan Pickering needed 5 saves for the shutout.

Bartlett 2, Downers Grove North 0: Ryan Stratton and TJ Ivkovich scored for the Hawks (7-4-1) in their nonconference win. Josh Merkel and Igor Zwada added assists and keeper Jake Hasenstein corralled 5 saves for the shutout.

Burlington Central 7, Marengo 1: The Rockets (5-7-1, 4-2) snapped a 6-game skid that began at the PepsiCo Showdown with a resounding victory over the Indians in Big Northern East action. Luke Schramme's hat trick led Central in scoring while his brother Jack had 2 assists. Cole Tecza tallied 2 goals and 2 assists while Enrique Garcia and Tony Rodriguez also chipped in goals. Austin Grenert added 1 assist and keeper Ryan Fitzgerald made 3 saves.

Elgin Academy 9, Morgan Park 2 Academy: Julian Romano managed 2 first half goals added a third in the second half and recorded an assist in an Independent School League win. Elgin Academy (5-3-1, 1-2) put up 6 in the second half, as Elliot Wittmeyer scored twice and added 1 assist, Karl Rauschenberger and Karan Gowda added goals while Gowda, Wilmington and Westerhoff added assists. Patrick Westerhoff made 2 saves in net.

Woodstock 5, Westminster Christian 1: Mason Runkle was the lone scorer for the Warriors (7-6), who fell to a bigger Class 2A Woodstock team in nonconference action. Goalie Ben Versluys was peppered enough to stop 15 shots.
