Elgin library shows how to 'Manufacture Your Future' Oct. 4-11

The Gail Borden Public Library, in partnership with the Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce, invite the community to "Manufacture Your Future" Oct. 4-11.

It is an exhibit of leading manufacturers in the Elgin area showcasing their products and highlighting careers in advanced manufacturing.

The exhibit opens at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, at the library, 270 N. Grove Ave. It will be followed by a "Business After Hours" from 4:30 to 6 p.m. and Family Night and "Manufacture Like a Girl" from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Women in manufacturing will be talking about their products and services and be able to answer any questions from students and families.

The exhibit continues until 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11. On Friday, Oct. 9, students from local school districts will explore the displays at the library, discuss career options with company representatives and tour manufacturing facilities.

The Elgin Development Group is a public-private partnership between the City of Elgin, the Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Neighborhood Association focused on economic development. The goals of the partnership are to provide a solid tax base, improve living standards, create a diverse and vibrant economy and generate desirable employment opportunities. The partnership's workforce committee consists of key industry, government and educational stakeholders interested in promoting careers in manufacturing.
