Mt. Prospect man charged with trespassing

A Mount Prospect man has been charged with trespassing after police spotted him earlier this week in Arlington Heights, officials said. Arlington Heights police arrested a suspect for committing criminal trespass to a residence on Aug. 20.

Frank Mendez, 51, of the 2000 block of Algonquin Road, is accused of trying to enter a home on the 700 block of Patton Circle, Arlington Heights, on Aug. 20, police said.

On Thursday, an Arlington Heights officer saw Mendez riding a bicycle near Golf and Algonquin roads and detained him because he resembled a sketch of the person who entered the home, police said.

When he was questioned, Mendez admitted entering the home but leaving after being confronted by the owner, police said, adding that nothing was taken.

Mendez is scheduled in bond court Saturday morning.
