Music in the Park Wraps Up Another Successful Year

Residents of Bensenville enjoyed another summer full of great music and entertainment during the Village of Bensenville's Annual Music in the Park concert series.

Music in the Park takes place every Wednesday June through the end of August each summer in Downtown Bensenville. It serves as a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and listen to great music, shop at a newly created French Market, check out hundreds of classic cars and enjoy many free activities like face paintings, horse drawn carriage rides, bouncy houses and much more. It also serves as an economic development tool helping support businesses in Downtown Bensenville and local restaurants who sell fresh prepared food.

This year residents and downtown businesses got to enjoy an additional Music in the Park on September 2nd. The Village Board asked staff if they could pull off one more week to keep the summer fun going strong. Though the budget was depleted, the Recreation team was able to think outside the box and bring one more week of summer fun on a shoe string budget. Opening band Old School donated their time and talents to make the extended series a great success.

"We asked our highly qualified and professional staff to pull off a last minute end of summer finale, and as expected they knocked it out of the park." said Village President Frank Soto "Not only did residents get to enjoy another week of fun it created an opportunity to fundraise. The local Girl Scout Troup sold 50/50 raffle tickets raising almost $1,000 to be split between the winner, their Troup, and the Bensenville food pantry."

Each week during the Music in the Park concert series a different civic group sells the 50/50 raffle tickets of which proceeds benefit their group and the Bensenville Food Pantry. Over $1,700 was raised for the Bensenville food pantry this year as a result of Music in the Park.
