Help Lazarus House to put a fork in it

Do you have any leftover holiday plates, bowls, napkins, etc.? How about takeout plastic utensils that you haven't used? Lazarus House would love to take these items off your hands!

Lazarus House has recently lost its donor of all disposable tableware needed for meals.

A generous manufacturer had been supplying the tableware needed for many years. Monthly they have provided all plates, bowls, cups and plastic flatware at no charge. This month, the St. Charles-based shelter were notified they no longer had the ability to continue this kindness.

If Lazarus House tried to purchase the amount of these items needed each month, it will cost approximately $1,000.

Please consider making a donation of disposable sturdy plates and bowls, Styrofoam cups or plastic knives, forks and spoons, whether they be brand new or odds and ends. Everything will help until they can find a more permanent solution. You may become that permanent solution!

Lazarus House is a homeless shelter, transitional living center, homeless prevention service provider and also serves meals to the food insecure within the communities it serves. Since 1997 it has been serving neighbors in crisis from the Tri-Cities communities as well as rural Kane County.

Last fiscal year, it served 55,850 meals to the men, women and children who are struggling to feel hope for their future. As you can imagine, this equates to approximately 4,000 plates, 1,500 bowls, 5,000 cups and 7,000 pieces of disposable flatware used per month.

Lazarus House is looking for someone who may have a connection to a manufacturer or distributor of disposable plates, bowls, cups, and plasticware. They are looking for possible donation or reduced cost to purchase these much needed supplies for the shelter. If you can help, call (630) 587-2144 or email info@lazarushouseonline.com.
