Road reopens after motorcycle crash in Elgin

A motorcycle driver suffered serious injuries in a crash Thursday afternoon that for about two hours closed McLean Boulevard at Bowes Road in Elgin, police said.

The 48-year-old man was riding the motorcycle southbound on McLean Boulevard and crashed at about 1:42 p.m. into a truck parked in the right lane, according to the preliminary investigation, Deputy Chief Bill Wolf said in a news release. The truck was performing utility work.

The road reopened just before 4 p.m., Wolf said.

It appears the motorcycle driver, who was taken to Presence St. Joseph Hospital, was not wearing a helmet, police said.
