Antioch inks 5-year deal for trash, recycling collection

Antioch officials have approved a 5-year contract with a new waste hauler, Groot Industries, effective Oct. 1, but say village residents will receive the same services as with prior hauler Waste Management.

Cart delivery is under way this week. All residents will be provided with a 95-gallon garbage cart and 65-gallon recycling cart, according to the village. Residents wishing to enroll in the limited service program with a 65-gallon cart may email Antioch@groot.com.

Landscape waste and leaf vacuuming will continue to be provided to residents at no additional charge. Containers smaller than 35 gallons and weighing less than 50 pounds may be used for landscape waste, and must be marked as such.

Residents may upgrade the size of their recycling cart to a 95 -gallon cart at no charge upon request.

Waste Management has scheduled cart removal Sept. 24-30, on your last day of service. Please do not bring your carts back in that day.
