Geneva soccer club supports Elburn Food Pantry

The players of the Geneva soccer club Chicago Soccer Academy recently participated in a canned food drive to benefit the Elburn Food Pantry.

The food pantry serves the communities of Elburn, Maple Park, Sugar Grove and Cortland.

During the month of September, club members donated more than 900 pounds of canned food items! Congrats to U-9 boys who won can food drive team competition by collecting more than 110 items.

It was the first of four nonprofit collection events the Chicago Soccer Academy players will participate in during the 2015-16 season.

Tim Balatsoukas, director of CSA, wants to instill in his players the awareness of people in need in our local communities, as well as those around the world.

Through these nonprofit collection events, or as CSA calls them, "Intentional Acts of Kindness" assignments, Chicago Soccer Academy families have the opportunity for family discussions about the needs of people, as well as a tangible way to be involved in meeting those needs.
