Trial begins for son accused of killing dad, stepmom

Opening arguments began Tuesday in the trial of Michael W. Romano, who has been charged with shooting both his parents in their Cary-area home in November 2006. "The defendant did the worst possible thing for the worst possible reason," McHenry County Assistant State's Attorney Patrick Kenneally told jurors. Naperville woman identified as pedestrian killed in Wheaton crash

Authorities have identified Pamela S. Spletter as the woman who died after being hit by a car at the intersection of Butterfield and Naperville roads in Wheaton last Wednesday. The 60-year-old Naperville resident was walking in the street when she was hit by a 2014 Mercedes-Benz station wagon just before 8 p.m. Police continue to investigate. Full story.
