St. Edward game moved to Geneva Friday

While the damaged grass at St. Edward's Greg True Field continues to be repaired, Green Wave athletic director P.J. White announced Tuesday that this week's football games against Guerin would be played at Geneva High School on Friday night.

The grass on Greg True Field was accidentally killed when the lawn care company contracted to take care of the field used weed killer instead of fertilizer prior to the start of the season.

The Green Wave played on the field in Week 2 but moved last week's scheduled home game against IC Catholic to Plunkett Park in Elmhurst.

White said earlier this week several schools, including Northern Illinois University, had contacted him offering use of their facilities. He said future home games would be evaluated on a week-to-week basis.

St. Edward's homecoming game is scheduled for next Friday, Oct. 2, against Walther Christian. The Wave's last home game is scheduled Friday, Oct. 23 against Elmwood Park.

Friday's sophomore game at Geneva will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the varsity to follow.

Geneva athletic director Jim Kafer was formerly the AD at St. Edward.
