Trio arrested in Vernon Hills home burglary

Vernon Hills police Tuesday announced the arrests of three Chicago-area men on charges stemming from a home burglary in July.

Victor Aloush, 46, of Highland Park; Ernest Walker, 64, of Calumet City; and Rasim Ukoja, 48, of Skokie, each face one felony count of residential burglary stemming from the July 1 break-in, police said.

An arrest warrant has also been obtained for a fourth suspect, according to police.

A day after the burglary occurred in the 1100 block of Port Clinton Road, Vernon Hills police were notified that a multijurisdictional task force had been conducting a surveillance of the suspects, authorities said. During the surveillance, the suspects were observed in the area where the Vernon Hills burglary occurred, police said.

"We're pleased that the task force was able to provide information that aided us in solving this case," Vernon Hills Police Chief Mark Fleischhauer said. "This cooperative effort most likely helped prevent other crimes from occurring in Vernon Hills."

Aloush and Ukoja have been released on $100,000 and $75,000 bail, respectively. Walker remains in custody at the Lake County jail.
