Addison man facing child porn charges

Bail has been set at $750,000 for an Addison man accused of possessing child pornography.

Earlier this week, the Addison Police Department received information about possible Internet child pornography activity in Addison, officials said.

Prosecutors said David Prefountain, 49, was identified as a possible suspect and, when officers searched his home, they found an electronic tablet with multiple images of child pornography.

"Child pornography continues to be a thorn in the side of society," DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a written statement. "Purveyors of this disgusting filth will use every type of Internet technology available to them to share and collect these disgusting images."

Prefountain's next court date is scheduled for Oct. 5 in front of Judge Brian Telander. If Prefountain is able to post bond, he will not be allowed to have contact with children younger than 18 or Internet access.
