Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft relocating in Algonquin

It is getting to be a little bit of slimmer pickings for shoppers at Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft along the Randall Road corridor in Algonquin.

As the store at 215 S. Randall Road in the River Pointe shopping center prepares to close, and move to another location along Randall Road, fabrics, crafts and decorations are on sale and moving out the door fast at liquidation prices.

All of the stock is on sale in preparation for the opening of a new Joann's location in November.

The store will be moving a little to the south on Randall Road. It is expected to open in the old Ethan Allen furniture store location in Algonquin at 2391 County Line Road.

The current Jo-Ann location is under full liquidation right now, so everything in the store is reduced.

The store is scheduled to remain open right up until the new store opens on Nov. 5. However, how much will be available to purchase up until that date is unknown.

There are new sales happening each week, and there are new deal-seeking shoppers going in frequently once they hear about the store's closing.

For now, if you're looking for fabric and crafting items, you can try the Algonquin location, as there still are fabrics, crafts and decorations in stock. Or, you can check out other Jo-Ann locations in the Chicago area.

There even is another location along the Randall Road corridor. That one is in Geneva, at 714 Commons Drive.

Batman Day:

What could be cooler than a whole event devoted to Batman?

The Barnes and Noble along the Randall Road corridor in Geneva is bringing Batman Day back by popular demand.

At 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, the store at 102 Commons Drive, Geneva, will host Batman Day.

There will be a drawing demonstration of Batman characters by artists from The School of Art.

There also will be a Batman Lego build.

Fans of Batman are invited to come dressed their favorite Batman hero or villain.

You'll also get a chance to enter a sweepstakes to win a limited edition figure.

For information, call the store at (630) 262-8568.

Partly clear:

The sidewalks and roadways in the Algonquin Commons mall along the Randall Road corridor are clear now throughout at least half of the mall.

The mall has been under construction as crews work to improve the walkways and parking lots at Algonquin Commons.

The work made it a little difficult to maneuver in and out for shoppers.

However, the sawhorses, barricades and ramps are gone now from Half Price Books at the one end of the mall, halfway to the other end of the mall, said Kim Gilmore, whose company does marketing for the mall.

The mall's sidewalk lights now are back up too.

Shoppers also can hear music now piped throughout the mall.

The construction project is expected to wrap up soon.
