Arlington Hts. OKs demolition of vacant building at HSBC offices

As HSBC North America Holdings Inc. prepares to move about 1,500 workers to the Northwest Crossing office complex in Arlington Heights, the village board on Monday approved another change to the property. Torburn Properties will tear down 118,000 square feet of office space from a vacant building at 1501 W. Shure Drive to create an open space and sport court for HSBC employees, who are expected to move into 1421 W. Shure Drive in early 2016. The court will have basketball, volleyball and other activities. An 11-year agreement was announced last month that will bring HSBC to the former Motorola and Nokia campus. Torburn is seeking to bring other partners to the rest of the vacant property.
