Ever since I saw a wonderfully cool picture of a leaf falling along a wooded trail in the fall, by my super talented friend Rob Finch, I have been trying to take a picture like his for years. Maybe I should say copy, since his picture was simply awesome. I was checking out a waterfall in Jon J. Duerr Forest Preserve in South Elgin after seeing a post about it on a local Facebook group. While I was leaning up against a tree trying to get a slower shutter speed to photograph the waterfall I noticed this spinning shadow just above me. Low and behold a leaf was clinging to a spider web and the light was hitting it just right. I'm not sure how Rob made his picture all those years ago, but this works for me. The waterfall is found by riding south on the Riverbend Trail after parking in the lot just East of McLean on Route 31. This photo was published in the Perspective column in the printe edtion of the Daily Herald. To comment, email Brian Hill at bhill@dailyherald.com Brian Hill/bhill@dailyherald.com
