Church should find another location
Last week there was an open discussion on the proposed decimating of the Rand/Berkley Campus in Arlington Heights by the Holy Nation Presbyterian Church.
This project involves parking spaces that would decrease the green space, endanger students at a school on the campus and surrounding homes. Three sides of the area have residential dwellings while one side holds the Futabakai Japanese School.
The only people that were notified of this meeting were those immediately surrounding the proposed project. It seems to me that it would be obtuse thinking to not realize that this would impact the people of the two subdivisions that touch the project area because of increased traffic, noise and safety issues.
They obviously are not interested in hearing from all the residents of the area involved. This seems a little shady to most people here.
There are plenty of areas in Arlington Heights that would suffice as a location for their church that would not infringe on the welfare of the residents. Go a little further down Chestnut to Rand Road and you will see a large empty parcel of land that would have plenty of parking spaces with room for the church itself. The project generates no benefits to the residents of all of Arlington Heights.
I have been a resident of this area since 1968. My children attended school on that campus. The children were responsible for making the world a better place with the mini tree arboretum and the care of the trees.
This is actually an insult to the bright, young minds that grew from there. Truly, this has been a sad day for the people of Arlington Heights.
