Jaramillo's pick-6 all Fenton needs

In a hard-fought battle at the line of scrimmage, Fenton defeated Elmwood Park 6-0 on Saturday in Elmwood Park.

The game was rescheduled from Friday due to threatening weather. The Bison's Brian Jaramillo picked off a Brandon Romero pass for 52 yards and a touchdown in the first quarter to provide the thin margin of victory for the Bison.

"I saw the offensive line move up," Jaramillo said. "I realized it, saw the ball and just went for it. I just wanted to score a touchdown to win this game."

The game was fought in the trenches with both defenses holding their ground. The Bison had a total of 89 yards for the game, while the defense held the Tigers to 199 yards.

"I was very proud of the effort on the defense," said Bison coach Mark Kos. "It was a great testament to our game plan. But it was the kids who were the key. They played so hard on defense. They did their jobs. They did their one-11th as we talked about, and when all our pistons are firing we're a nice defense.

"We fly to the ball really well, we move around really well and we're not afraid to hit. Those three things on defense usually payoff dividends. It was good to see the product on the field today."

The Bison (2-2) stopped the Tigers offense from mounting any attack, holding them to 107 yards on the ground and picking up 3 interceptions. The first interception was Jaramillo's touchdown, one by Dominic Prunotto and the last one by Eric Lonergan with less than a minute left in the game to cut off the Tigers' last attempt to score.

The Tigers (1-3) had two interceptions by Xavier Moscatello in the first half but couldn't take advantage.

"Offense is where we have to get more consistency and execute better," said Tigers coach John Hoffman. "We're good sometimes and then we make a mistake that kills every drive and then we're behind the chains. The defense can keep doing what it's doing."

Lonergan ran for 73 yards on 26 carries.

"It was definitely a battle," said Bison quarterback Corey Hausen. "I really have to give credit to my front line. On defense we really held the edge and didn't let (Elmwood Park) get anything outside."

The Bison head to Glenbard South for a big showdown next week.

"We have to really ramp it up," Hausen said. "We have to hit hard at game speed. I feel very comfortable with our line."
