I just went to the One World Trade Observatory and was incredibly impressed by how much thought and detail went into the building of this magnificent structure and experience. As 9/11 is upon us, I was quite honored to be up to the One World Observatory as it just opened this year. I went to Fermilab in Batavia and took some photos of the architecture and nature preserve. This particular sculpture caught my eye. It looked like giant metal straws gleaming in the sunlight. I took a few shots at different angles. I experimented with some different filters in iPhoto to add some artistic effects. Angela Cichosz of Carol Stream

I took this photo of a cormorant sunning itself at Patriot's Park in Downers Grove. They have a wingspan of 54 inches. I have seen a couple in my daily photography walks but the are not real common in this area. I thought it really lent itself to being printed in black and white. Todd A. Sherlock of Downers Grove
