Cash, jewlery stolen in Deerfield-area home invasion

Police are searching for armed robbers who forced their way into a home near Deerfield and stole cash and jewelry, authorities announced Friday.

No one was hurt in the home invasion, which was reported about 7:20 p.m. Thursday at a house on the 1100 block of Inverrary Lane, Lake County sheriff's police said.

Two young boys were playing outside the home when three men drove up in a car. Two of the men forced the kids inside at gunpoint, gathered up an adult who was home, and then took $500 cash and jewelry valued at $10,000, police said.

The men then drove off.

The thieves were captured on a home surveillance video system, police said. Investigators are trying to use surveillance cameras in the area to identify their vehicle.

Anyone with information about the heist should call sheriff's detectives at (847) 377-4250 or Lake County Crime Stoppers at (847) 662-2222.
