Chicago man charged in Elgin home invasion

A Chicago man is facing charges in a July home invasion at an Elgin apartment and tying up family members inside, police said.

Xavier Pacheco, 27, was arrested Thursday and charged with one count of home invasion with a firearm, according to a news release from the Elgin Police Department.

Police were called to a home on the 1100 block of Birch Street around 7 a.m. July 29, because a man with a gun had entered the apartment, the release said. Family members told police they had been tied up but were able to free themselves after the suspect left. No one was injured.

Pacheco's bond was set at $500,000 in Cook County.
