Pedestrian killed by train in Wheaton

A pedestrian was killed late Friday night after being hit by an eastbound Metra train in Wheaton.

Wheaton police said they responded to the area of Front and Main and that the 48-year-old pedestrian was dead when the officers arrived. Police are not releasing the person's identity at this time. Authorities are investigating.

The Chicago-bound train involved was delayed for two and a half hours. Five other inbound and outbound Metra trains were halted along the Union Pacific West Line between West Chicago and Lombard.
