Elgin Public House hosts Tighthead beer dinner

Elgin Public House partners with Mundelein-based Tighthead Brewing for a beer dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22. Dinner includes slow-braised pork rib teriyaki taco, halibut with shrimp, panang curry and chicken soup; mango, pineapple and jalapeño tossed salad with arugula and chilly water vinaigrette; and braised skirt steak roulades. Beer pairings include Tighthead's Boxcar Porter, ReplicAle Saison, Gogo Wit, Chilly Water, Comfortably Blonde and AwesomeSauce Imperial brown ale aged in Woodford Barrels. $50 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Old Orchard welcomes new Shake Shack

Known as a modern day "roadside" burger stand, Shake Shake recently opened in its third Chicago-area location - this time in Westfield Old Orchard Mall in Skokie. Shake Shack serves up 100 percent all-natural Angus beef burgers, griddled-crisp flat-top dogs, fresh-made frozen custard, crinkle-cut fries, craft beer and wine and more. Pizza Barra now open in Oak Brook

Pizza Barra recently opened near sibling restaurant Labriola Cafe in Oak Brook. A collaboration between Rich Labriola and executive chef Chris Macchia, Pizza Barra serves coal-fired Chicago-style pizza, pastas, small Italian plates, handcrafted cocktails and more.
