Boys soccer: Jacobs, Bartlett earn wins
Jacobs 1, Grayslake Central 0: Konrad Wasilewski netted the game-winner in the Golden Eagles' Fox Valley Conference crossover win. Ethan Pickering picked up the shutout as Jacobs improved to 7-1 overall.
Bartlett 6, Glenbard East 1: Tim Riordan and Ryan Stratton each supplied the Hawks (5-4-1, 2-0) with 2 goals in an Upstate Eight Valley win. TJ Ivkovich and Igor Zwada also added goals while Oliver Saile provided 2 assists. Stratton, Rahul Vences, Jacob White, Venici Leone all had 1 assist each and keeper Jake Hasenstein grabbed 6 saves.
CL South 6, Grayslake North 0: Ryan Coughlin's 2-goal, 2-assist night paced the Gators (5-2-3) to a FVC crossover win. Nikolas Getzinger also collected 2 goals and 1 assist while Skyler Pentico added 1 goal and 1 assist. Zachary Schmidt managed a goal and Andrew Grabowski tallied 2 assists and goalie Spencer Traub provided 5 saves in net.
Cary-Grove 4, Hampshire 1: Mike Arenberg provided the Trojans (3-1-1) with a hat trick in their win over the Whip-Purs in FVC crossover action. John O'Brien tacked on the other C-G goal while Esteban Angeles had 2 assists. Brett Schuerg also had an assist and Trent Onopa (1 save) and Nick Reineking (4 saves) held it down in goal.
Marmion Academy 3, DeKalb 0: In a nonconference win, the Cadets (2-2-3) scored 3 goals in the second half to break away from the Barbs. Nick Grant led the surge with 1 goal and 1 assist while Quinn Gratz and Robert Quintana added goals. Tim Wheeler added an assist and Danny Galush (2 saves) and Brant Chiesa combined for the shutout.
Kaneland 3, Morris 0: The Knights (2-4-2) improved to 1-1-1 in the Northern Illinois Big 12 East Division with a 3-goal second half over the Redskins. All the boots came from Angel Escontrais while Drew Franklin, Mark Dhom and John McCaffrey notched assists.
Harvest Christian 3, IMSA 1: Rafa DeSouza knotted 1 goal and 1 assist while Cesar Velazquez and Dane Crouse added goals in a Northeastern Athletic win. Sam Seratto and Zach Floyd added assists as the Lions (6-1-1) jumped to 4-0 in conference.
Larkin 2, Batavia 2: In UEC River action, the Royals (3-4-3, 0-1-1) watched the Bulldogs sink a PK in the late moments to force a tie. Sinuhe Carbajal and Sammy Rodriguez netted goals while Alex Ramirez had 2 assists. Miguel Perez corralled 8 saves.
Leyden 8, Burlington Central 0: The Rockets (4-3-1) received 9 saves from Ryan Fitzgerald and 2 saves from David Murphy but BC couldn't come away with a PepsiCo Showdown victory.
