Schaumburg man pleads guilty to additional DUI charges

A Schaumburg man who was arrested and charged with DUI twice within 48 hours pleaded guilty Tuesday to one set of charges just weeks after admitting to the other.

Already facing a three-year prison sentence, Donald Vucic, 30, was sentenced Tuesday in Skokie to six years in prison: three years for aggravated DUI and six years for driving on a revoked or suspended license, with those two sentences running concurrently.

Vucic has a long history of DUI arrests. Tuesday's sentence was related to charges following a March 11 arrest. Two days later, he was out on bond when Schaumburg police arrested him after he nearly cut someone off while changing lanes driving north on Roselle Road, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors say Vucic failed field sobriety tests following the March 13 arrest on charges of DUI and driving on a revoked license. Prosecutors say his blood alcohol content registered .16, or twice the legal limit.

In August, Vucic pleaded guilty to the March 13 charges and was sentenced by a Rolling Meadows judge to three years in prison.

Court records show the Skokie judge ordered the six-year sentence run consecutively to the three-year sentence imposed by the Rolling Meadows judge.

Vucic, who received credit for 188 days in custody, was also ordered to pay $5,779 in fines, court records show.

Vucic's background includes a 2011 aggravated DUI conviction and misdemeanor DUI convictions in 2005 and 2003.

Vucic must complete at least 50 percent of his sentences before he is eligible for parole.
