Career Resource Center to celebrate 25 years

Submitted by Career Resource Center

The Career Resource Center is throwing a party from 6:30-10 p.m. at Viper Alley in Lincolnshire Sept. 25 to celebrate its 25th year of helping job candidates find meaningful work.

A nonprofit organization, CRC has provided employment assistance to more than 12,000 people from 70 area communities since its inception in 1990.

Entertainment will be provided by Chicago Improv Productions, with actor Razz Jenkins serving as master of ceremonies for the festivities and music provided by Pat Brennan. Card magic, caricature drawings and henna tattoos will also be part of the fun.

All of the proceeds from the celebration will go directly to providing job candidates with confidence-building, results-focused employment resources and support.

According to monthly data released in August by the Illinois Department of Employment Security, Illinois job growth continues to lag behind other states and is more than two years behind the nation's.

With continuing layoffs at area corporations like Abbott, Hospira and Walgreens, CRC continues to be a vital service to the people of Cook and Lake counties, as well as those from southeastern Wisconsin.

"To us at CRC, those aren't just statistics," CRC Executive Director Jan Leahy said. "These are real people experiencing the devastating effects of job loss."

CRC is supported financially by foundations, townships, religious and community groups, and area corporations, as well as alumni and individual contributors.

The volunteer staff of 125 donates more than 5,700 hours of service. Clients pay a fee of $145 for 12 months of services and have access to a wealth of seminars and monthly workshops, plus the advantage of access to private advisory sessions throughout their search.

Viper Alley is at 275 Parkway Drive, Lincolnshire.
