Magee helps Mundelein to Z-B Invite victory

For the second time in two weeks, Mundelein's boys golf team prevailed in a tightly contested invitational.

Ryan Magee fired a 75 to finish third, and the Mustangs carded a 322 to capture the Zion-Benton invite at Shepherd's Crook on Saturday. St. Viator (325), New Trier (326), Vernon Hills (327) and Fremd (329) rounded out the top five.

Vernon Hills junior Justin Park earned medalist honors with a 74.

Tyler White shot an 80 (12th place) for Mundelein, which won the Warren invite at Bittersweet on Aug. 29. The Mustangs also counted Zach Zentz's 82 and Nick Chuma's 85, while Brett Parola had an 86.

Ethan Lee shot an 80 for Vernon Hills to place ninth. Brian Favia had an 82 for the Cougars.

Other medalists included Tyler Anderson (80, 10th) of Carmel (342, eighth) and Kyle Reynolds (82, 15th) of Grayslake Central (344, 10th). Michael Murdy also had an 82 for Grayslake Central. Seventh-place Warren (341) was led by Karl Tolentino's 82.

Stevenson (345) was 11th, receiving an 83 from Kevin Chin and an 84 from Scott James.

Lake Zurich (351) finished 12th, as Matt Gadomski paced the Bears with an 84.
