Learn about health care careers at CLC

Health care careers, which include a variety of in-demand fields, will be the focus of a series of information sessions being offered at the College of Lake County this fall.

Between now and 2022, employment in many health care fields is projected to increase faster or much faster than average for all occupations, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The increases range from 12 percent for nursing to 33 percent for dental hygiene.

Each information session lasts about an hour and includes an overview of duties, a typical day, salary, job outlook and educational requirements. No RSVP is required. Sessions are at the Grayslake Campus, unless stated otherwise.

• Dental hygiene: Oct. 7 and Nov. 4 at noon in Room N135 of the Lakeshore Campus in downtown Waukegan.

• Health information technology: Oct. 7 at 1 p.m. in Room C136; Nov. 4 at 4:30 p.m. in Room C137; Dec. 2 at 1 p.m. in Room C136.

• Medical assisting and phlebotomy: Sept. 16 at 2:30 p.m.; Oct. 13 at 12:30 p.m.; and Nov. 11 at 12:30 p.m. Check www.clcillinois.edu/infosessions for updates on room locations.

• Medical imaging: Oct. 5 at 2 p.m.; Nov. 2 at 2 p.m.; and Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. in Room T323.

• Nursing: Nov. 3 at 9 a.m. in Room T332.

• Surgical Technology: Oct. 1 at 5:30 p.m.; Nov. 5 at 5:30 p.m.; and Dec. 3 at 5:30 p.m. in Room D204.
