Sept. 12 home tour, craft beer tasting event at Heritage Harbor Ottawa Resort

Heritage Harbor Ottawa Resort, a marina resort community along the Illinois River in Starved Rock Country, invites prospective homebuyers to "Tap Into Fall Adventure" during a September 12 home tour event in partnership with soon-to-open local craft brewery Tangled Roots Brewing Company. The event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., will be an opportunity for attendees to not only tour available vacation, retirement and full-time waterfront homes at the resort development, but also enjoy a rooftop craft beer tasting, an art show featuring a local artist, and demos on farm-to-table cooking, baking, photography and porch décor.

Located at 1970 N. 2753rd Road in Ottawa, Illinois, just 90 minutes southwest of Chicago, Heritage Harbor Ottawa is a 142-acre master-planned development of single-family homes, townhomes, vacation cottages, carriage homes and condos, centered on a 32-acre harbor and full-service marina. The community offers a resort lifestyle with boating amenities and waterfront living, as well as access to the region's plentiful recreational opportunities including Starved Rock State Park and the I&M Canal Trail.

"We planned this event to showcase many of the wonderful things people love about Starved Rock Country, from our booming craft beer and dining scene to the unique craftsmanship of local artists and opportunities for pursuing a variety of hobbies and interests," said Tammy Barry, director of sales and marketing for Heritage Harbor Ottawa. "Attendees will experience firsthand the flavor of this region as well as the lifestyle they can enjoy at Heritage Harbor Ottawa, plus tour some of the beautiful homes we have available."

Barry added that the partnership with Tangled Roots Brewing Company is an opportunity for craft beer enthusiasts to preview the local brewery prior to the opening of its Tap Room in downtown Ottawa later this fall. "Ottawa is earning a great reputation for its locally brewed beers, and we're proud to showcase one of the newest players in the region at this event. Not to mention that at Heritage Harbor's on-site restaurant, The Red Dog Grill, we carry local favorite Radium City, another home-grown brewery," said Barry. "Many people choose Heritage Harbor as their location for a relaxing second home where they can unwind and enjoy the offerings of the local community, and this region's craft beers are definitely something our residents love exploring."

During the September 12 home tour event, Tangled Roots Brewing Company will host beer tastings from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the rooftop decks of the West Harbor Lofts, a series of three-level townhomes available at Heritage Harbor Ottawa. Priced from $259,000, West Harbor Loft homes have access to boat slips directly in front of the residences, and also feature expansive outdoor spaces with views of the harbor, Illinois River and surrounding area.

Additionally, Chef Brok Kellogg of The Lone Buffalo, the restaurant at Tangled Roots Brewing Company that will open next door to the brewery's Tap Room this fall, will be giving farm-to-table cooking demonstrations at 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. The demos will take place in one of several single-family homes currently available at Heritage Harbor Ottawa so buyers can see how conducive the home is to entertaining. Single-family homes are priced from $334,900.

Also featured on the "Tap Into Fall Adventure" tour are the Flite series townhomes, four contemporary homes priced from $390,000. During the September 12 event, a local artist will display her work in one of the homes. She will also be on-site working on a new painting, showcasing the views the Flite townhomes offer of a conservation cove along the Illinois River.

Demonstrations in photography, baking, fall porch décor and techniques for creating repurposed furnishings will be presented at other homes currently available for sale at Heritage Harbor Ottawa, including vacation cottages in the Cottages at Heron's Landing neighborhood, priced from $159,000; carriages homes priced from $225,000; and custom home sites, priced from $90,000. Attendees can also preview two homes currently under construction at the Cottages at River Row, the development's newest pocket neighborhood.

Boat tours of Heritage Harbor Ottawa will also be offered throughout the day, and attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about boating and recreational amenities at Heritage Harbor Ottawa and in the surrounding Starved Rock Country region.
