Boys soccer: Jacobs tops Grayslake North
Jacobs 4, Grayslake North 2: The Golden Eagles (5-0) continue to sizzle as the Noah Melick-Konrad Wasilewski show was on display in Fox Valley Conference crossover action. Wasilewski's hat trick was all aided by Melick, who in turn received an assist from Wasilewski to help goalie Eduardo Guimaray get a 4-save shutout.
Bartlett 3, South Elgin 2: The Hawks' first Upstate Eight Valley win came thanks to TJ Ivkovich, who scored twice including the game-winner with 3 minutes remaining. Tim Riordan added the other Bartlett (4-2, 1-0) goal while AJ Santori, Oliver Saile and Igor Zwada added assists. Keeper Jake Hasenstein managed 8 saves in net.
Huntley 2, CL Central 0: Zach Whitaker and Jason Zobott found the net in the Red Raiders' Fox Valley Crossover win. Michael Zembrzuski and Irwin Bhathal both assisted while Michael Parks' 3-save shutout helped Huntley (5-0-1) stay undefeated.
Burlington Central 3, North Boone 0: Enrique Garcia's first half goal was enough for the Rockets (3-1-1, 2-0) in their Big Northern East win but Central didn't stop there. Cole Tecza and Luke Schramme each knotted goals in the second half while Tony Rodriguez and Victor Rodriguez added assists. Keeper Ryan Fitzgerald made 1 save and David Murphy collected 2 for the combined shutout.
St. Charles North 2, Elgin 0: After a second-place finish at the LaSallian Cup, the Maroons (6-2) dropped their UEC River opener against the North Stars. Edgar Gonzalez made 8 saves for Elgin.
Harvest Christian 6, Christian Life 1: Rafa DeSouza's hat trick highlighted a Northeastern Athletic win for the Lions (5-0-1, 2-0), who remain unbeaten. DeSouza also had 1 assist while Cesar Velazquez added 2 goals. Dane Crouse had 1 goal and 1 assist while Sergio Velazquez and Chili Salazar posted an assist each. Matthew Baron made 1 save in net.
Cary-Grove 2, Prairie Ridge 2: C-G forward Esteban Angeles tallied a goal and an assist in the Trojans' FVC crossover tie against the Wolves. Patrick Kingdon also found the net for the Trojans (1-1-1), who saw keeper Trent Onopa make 6 saves.
Kaneland 1, DeKalb 1: In Northern Illinois Big 12 East action, the Knights (1-3-2, 0-0-1) received a goal from Cameron Piecynski in their first conference tilt against the Barbs.
St. Edward 1, Montini 1: Will Gaston's lone Green Wave (0-3-2) goal with under 3 minutes remaining forced a nonconference tie with the Broncos. Alex Semler added an assist and Eric Parks managed 5 saves.
Francis W. Parker 4, Elgin Academy 3: The Colonels scored an equalizer in the 76th minute and the game-winner 1 minute later to deny the Hilltoppers an Independent School League win. Drew Wilmington went for 2 goals and 1 assist while Julian Romano added 1 goal. Elliott Wittmeyer had an assist and goalkeeper David Zuzevitch made 10 saves.
Christian Liberty 4, Westminster Christian 0: Keeper Ben Versluys had 5 saves, but the Warriors (4-4) were shut out in a nonconference loss.
