Kane County Cougars set franchise record with 48th win

With all the success from last year's team, the 2014 Kane County Cougars never had as many wins in one half as the 2015 Cougars. After Sunday's 3-2 victory over the Peoria Chiefs (41-28, 74-63), no team in the Cougars' franchise history had as many wins in one half as this 2015 ball club. The Cougars improved to 48-21 in the second half and 84-53 overall in 2015. 84 wins is the third most victories in a season in franchise history.

Jumping out to a 3-0 lead early on, the hot-hitting Victor Reyes provided a 2-out, 2-run double in the second inning for the first lead of the game. The Cougars grabbed another run an inning later on a Peoria error.

Hector Hernandez (1-0) earned the win after five and two-third innings of 1-run baseball. Peoria didn't score until they broke up Hernandez's 10 consecutive retired batters streak in the sixth. A bases-loaded walk put the Chiefs on the board and brought in Jency Solis from the bullpen. The right-handed reliever escaped the bases loaded jam and picked up a hold despite allowing another run in the seventh.

Ryan Burr continued the relief efforts as he struck out the side in the eighth. Zac Curtis then picked up his 33rd save of the season as he fanned two batters en route to the Cougars' win.

Ian McKinney (3-1) suffered his first loss of the season.
