Man stabbed at Wauconda area party

A Round Lake Park man was behind bars Sunday facing multiple felony charges alleging he stabbed a man late Saturday during an argument at a party in Wauconda, authorities said.

Roberto Tinajero, 46, of the 400 block of Linden Drive, is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery stemming from the stabbing that left its victim hospitalized with what authorities described as nonlife threatening wounds.

According to Lake County Sheriff's police, deputies were dispatched at 11:10 p.m. Saturday to a residence in the 27600 block of West Case Road on a report of a shooting. When they arrived, they learned the victim had been stabbed, not shot, police said.

Authorities said deputies determined that Tinajero got into an argument with the victim while they were attending a party. During the argument, Tinajero pulled a knife and stabbed the victim on the left side of his stomach, sheriff's police said.

The victim was taken to Advocate Condell Hospital in Libertyville for treatment.

Tinajero is being held at the Lake County jail on $250,000 bail. His next court date is Sept. 14. If convicted of either aggravated battery charge, he faces up to five years in prison.
