Community pride on display in Buffalo Grove Days parade

Bands, classic cars, local dignitaries, community groups and a special recognition for a recently fallen law enforcement officer marched through Buffalo Grove on Sunday as crowds lined up along the streets to cheer them on for the annual Buffalo Grove Days Parade.

Among the entries in the parade was a tribute to Fox Lake police Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz, who was killed in the line of duty last week. Former Village President Jeffrey Braiman served as the grand marshal.

The parade was among the highlights of the annual fest's fourth day, which also featured the Buffalo Grove Stampede 5K and 10K races, a pancake breakfast and musical entertainment. The night wrapped up with a fireworks show.

The fest concludes Monday with special events for disabled residents, including free carnival rides, a magic show and lunch, starting at 10 a.m. in the carnival area and food tent. Other highlights include the arts and crafts and business fairs and the Rotary Duck Race, which can earn its winner $1,500.
