Plum Creek condo complex in Wheeling explores options for broken wells

The management of Wheeling's Plum Creek Condominiums, the 210-unit housing complex that went without water for five days last month, is working with a contractor on possible fixes for the complex's two privately owned wells, Wheeling Village Manager Jon Sfondilis says.

Residents were left without water in mid-August when a pump shaft in one of the wells broke. The other well had failed several months earlier.

Plum Creek's management company, Cornerstone Management, informed the village that the condo association is still weighing its options when it comes to a permanent fix.

Those options include repairing and maintaining both of the existing wells, or designing a new system that could hook up to Wheeling's water system.

Sfondilis says the contractor is conducting design work and looking at a cost comparison of the options.

Cornerstone Management could not be reached for comment.
