See Tree Whispering photo exhibit at Geneva library

Throughout September, an exhibit of tree spirit photographs by Atala Dorothy Toy is on display at the Geneva Public Library, 127 James St.

The exhibit of 20 images ranges from art photographs of trees to a recording of the spirits present within the trees. The trees live throughout the U.S., from New England through the Midwest to the Olympic Peninsula.

Atala Toy is a Tree Whisperer who can communicate with trees and specializes in tree portraiture. Spirit images in the exhibit include a large spiderwoman crawling through the woods; a strong statement by an evergreen about the "dumb loggers" who are "rats" for cutting down the trees near a log rolling site in Michigan; and a profile of Aslan (the lion of Narnia) found along the coast of the Pacific Northwest.

Toy owns Crystal Life Technology, a "back to nature" store located in downtown Geneva. The store provides mineral specimens, metaphysical products, gemstone therapy jewelry and nature spirit photographs, many of her own design.

Her work focuses on the benefits that accrue to earth when all its residents work in cooperation with each other. "There are many worlds coexisting on earth," Toy says. "We once knew how to communicate with the animals, trees and rocks. My work focuses on helping people re-establish this forgotten natural ability."

Toy has written about this forgotten human capacity in three books: "We Are Not Alone - A Guidebook to Interdimensional Cooperation"; "Nature Spirits, Spirit Guides and Ghosts - How to Photograph and Talk with Beings of Other Realms"; and "Nature Spirits in American Trees - From Central Park to the Redwood Forests." She has exhibited her photographs throughout the U.S., and they have been featured in magazines. She has appeared on radio and television describing her work - many of these interviews are available on YouTube.
