Susan Brunstrum, principal and founder of 12-year-old Sweet Peas Design in Libertyville, will present a series of three free interior design workshops at the Lake Bluff Library, 123 E. Scranton Ave., at 7 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 10, 17 and 24.

Susan will start with "Great Room Trends" and continue with "Bathroom Trends" and "Kitchen Trends" in succeeding weeks.

During each photo video/talk she will address every aspect of updating the space, from choosing a color palette, incorporating texture, selecting lighting and fabrics, and providing storage.

For kitchens and baths, she also will offer the latest scoop on countertops, tiles, cabinetry and fixtures. Each session will run just under an hour. All questions are welcome.

Brunstrum launched Sweet Peas Design 12 years ago in Libertyville as a one-woman firm. Today, Sweet Peas Design is a full-service studio with a staff of five in downtown Libertyville and a branch office in Chicago.

Brunstrum's versatile LivableLuxe style is known for its sophisticated blend of relaxed comfort and luxurious refinement. Susan considers it the "little black dress" of design: custom tailored for each client and perfect no matter what the occasion.

Brunstrum is allied with ASID, a member of the New York-based think tank called Design Trust and Chicago's River North Design, where she has been an invited speaker. Susan also is a board member for Lake County Cares, a philanthropic organization and a longtime supporter of cancer research.

She has been featured on the programs "George to the Rescue," "Open House" and "Bring It Home." Her work has been published in numerous national and local magazines and newspapers, including Modern Luxury Interiors Chicago, Kitchen + Bath Makeovers, Trends Kitchens, Trends Bathrooms, Color Made Easy, Crain's Chicago Business and Chicago Sun-Times' magazine Splash.

She received an award for "Best Living Space 2014" from Modern Luxury Interiors Chicago and a regional 2015 Chrysalis Award for Remodeling Excellence, and she has been invited twice to participate in the prestigious Lake Forest Showhouse.

Brunstrum has two grown children and lives in Chicago, where she enjoys exploring the city's best new restaurants, art galleries and shops. She loves fashion and gathering fresh design inspiration during her travels.
